How Are Devices Tested Before Shipment?

Every device gets a documented inspection and functional check before it ships. We’ve supplied hospitals, surgery centers, physicians, and medical service organizations since 2013, and we know how much reliability, performance, and fast delivery matter to you.

The point of our process is straightforward: equipment is inspected and functionally evaluated before it leaves us.

Our Quality & Testing Process

1. Incoming Inspection

When equipment arrives, we go over it for:

  • Model and serial number verification
  • Physical condition and cosmetic integrity
  • Missing components or accessories
  • Damage, excessive wear, or contamination
  • Connector, cable, and housing condition

Anything we find gets documented and handled before the equipment is offered for sale.

2. Functional Testing

We test using compatible accessories, simulators, and supporting equipment when we have them. Depending on the device, that can include:

  • Power-on verification
  • Operational and performance testing
  • User interface verification
  • Accessory and cable testing
  • Foot pedal functionality
  • Connector verification
  • Functional performance checks

The testing varies by device type, but the aim is the same: confirm the equipment and its accessories work properly.

3. Final Verification

Before shipment, we take a final pass to confirm:

  • The device works as it should
  • Included accessories are present
  • The product information is accurate
  • It’s clean and ready to ship

4. Secure Packaging

We pack with the right materials to protect sensitive components in transit, taking extra care with consoles, handpieces, cameras, power equipment, and fragile accessories.

5. Fast Shipping

Most in-stock orders ship the same business day when we can manage it. Expedited options, including FedEx Priority Overnight, are there to keep your downtime short.

A Real Example: Medtronic MR8 Drill Set with IPC System

Here’s what happens when a Medtronic MR8 Drill Set with an Integrated Power Console (IPC) lands at Simon Medical, before it’s offered for sale.

Incoming Inspection

We check:

  • IPC console model and serial number
  • MR8 motor model and serial number
  • Foot pedal function and condition
  • Power cords and system accessories
  • Physical condition of handpieces and attachments
  • Any damage, excessive wear, or missing components

System Assembly

We assemble the complete system from compatible components, which may include:

  • Medtronic IPC Console
  • IPC Foot Pedal
  • MR8 High-Speed Drill Motor
  • MR8 Attachments
  • Associated burs and accessories
  • Power cords and supporting components

Functional Testing

We power up the IPC system and check for:

  • A clean startup and self-test
  • The console recognizing the MR8 handpiece
  • A responsive touchscreen and console controls
  • Proper foot pedal operation
  • Drill activation across multiple speed settings
  • Smooth running with no unusual vibration or noise
  • Attachments engaging and releasing properly
  • Each included MR8 attachment tested individually with its matching bur, confirming it locks securely, spins smoothly, couples properly, and performs as it should
  • No system fault messages

Final Verification

After testing, we:

  • Confirm every tested component is included
  • Verify the system works as intended
  • Clean and prep the equipment for shipment
  • Run a final packaging check

Packaging & Shipment

Once testing is done, we pack the system securely to protect its sensitive parts in transit. Most in-stock equipment ships the same business day when possible, with FedEx Priority Overnight available when you need it fast.

Our Commitment to Quality

We’re committed to giving hospitals, surgery centers, physicians, and biomedical professionals dependable equipment and responsive service. Our inspection and testing process confirms equipment has been evaluated for function before it ships.

One important note: every medical device should still be inspected, tested, and approved by your biomedical department or qualified staff before clinical use.
